PhD Graduate Student Opportunity – Concordia University

An opportunity for conducting PhD graduate studies at Concordia University in Montréal and CanmetENERGY-Varennes (a research centre of Natural Resources Canada) is available. The project will target model-based control strategies for high-performance building systems. The methodology will focus on the rapid generation of control-oriented models by leveraging statistical data from similar buildings. Students with a background in building engineering or related areas (mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, engineering physics) and knowledge of building modelling techniques and HVAC systems are encouraged to apply. Familiarity with machine learning and data science, including statistical inference (Bayesian methods) and classification and regression models (decision trees, random forests, neural networks, clustering) is a strong asset. Programming experience (employing tools such as R, Python, MATLAB, Octave, etc.) is an advantage.
